David Kassie
Chairman of the Board

David Kassie serves as Chairman of SkyPower. David was formerly Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CIBC World Markets, the global investment banking arm of Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC), and former Vice Chairman of CIBC.

Prior to his role as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CIBC World Markets, David was Head of Global Investment and Corporate Banking, as well as Head of the U.S. region. David was responsible for integrating investment and corporate banking and building CIBC World Markets' U.S. business, including the acquisition of the Argosy Group, the expansion of merchant banking capabilities and the purchase of Oppenheimer. In 1989, David founded and led CIBC World Markets' CIBC Capital Partners.

David has extensive experience as an advisor, underwriter and principal. He sits on a number of boards including Alliance Atlantis Communications Inc. and Roots Canada Ltd. David is actively involved in community and charitable organizations and is on the Boards of the Shoah Foundation, the Hospital for Sick Children and Women in Capital Markets; he is Chairman of the University of Guelph Campaign; an Advisory Board Member of the Ivey School of Business; and was the Patrons' Council Chair for An Evening with Rudolph Guiliani in November, 2002.

David holds a B.Comm. (Honours) in Economics from McGill University (1977) and an MBA from the University of Western Ontario (1979).
