Vice President & General Counsel (Finance and Legal Team)

As SkyPower’s Vice-President and General Counsel, Richard Guttman supports all areas of SkyPower’s corporate development and operations including corporate finance, strategic alliances, mergers and acquisitions, power and equipment purchase and relating financings, and intellectual property management.

Richard has over 10 years’ experience in developing high-growth technology companies, including 724 Solutions, Cognicase/CGI Group Inc., Workbrain and Score Media. His legal and technical expertise includes intellectual property licensing, complex distribution and outsourcing arrangements, mergers and acquisitions, and public company securities and compliance. Prior to his in-house career, Richard practiced for several years at Goodmans LLP in its tax and corporate groups.

Richard is a qualified engineer and lawyer. He holds a B.A.Sc. in applied science from the University of Toronto, an LL.B. from the University of Western Ontario and an MBA in Science and Technology from Queen’s University.
