Steve Gilchrist is a two-term member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario 1995 – 2003 and served as the Government Lead of the Select Committee on Alternative Fuel Sources, Parliamentary Assistant Ministry of Environment and Energy, 1st Commissioner of Alternative Energy in Ontario, Minister, Municipal Affairs and Housing, Parliamentary Assistant, Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.

Steve served as Chair of the Standing Committee on General Government, Co-Chair Red Tape Commission and Chair of the Government Appointments group (Toronto East). During his mandate, Steve was a leader in the area of renewable energies.
