It’s about doing the right thing and acting as global citizen.
It’s about generating a brighter future – together.
Solar energy has the power to change the world. How do we know? Because we see it firsthand, every day. In addition to delivering hundreds of thousands of megawatt hours of utility-scale clean energy, SkyPower delivers social, economic and environmental benefits to communities around the world. With sustainability at our core, SkyPower is committed to generating a brighter future – today and for generations to come.
Our commitment is reflected in the innovative and evidence-based corporate social responsibility (CSR) practices that are integrated into every aspect of our operations – from how we engage with local communities and design our solar projects to how we select our partners and manage our environmental footprint. With each decision, we consider how we can bring shared value to people and communities who need it most.
Five key pillars form the basis of our commitment to social responsibility. They are Climate Action Leadership, Environmental Stewardship, Community Development, Ethics and Anti-Corruption and a Safe and Healthy Workplace. Together, these pillars ensure that our work brings measurable value to local and global communities, the environment and our employees.
In 2013, we launched SkyPower Cares as a way to take our commitment further and deliver solar energy solutions to families who lack access to electricity. Through this program, we have distributed thousands of portable home solar systems and desk lamps to families and schoolchildren across Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa.

Did you know that solar energy is one of the most environmentally-friendly renewable resources on the planet?
As a global developer of solar energy, we are leaders in the worldwide shift to a low carbon and climate resilient economy. In fact, caring for our planet is what drives our work and fuels our passion.
We are proud to say that there are no toxins or emissions released by solar panels. Solar photovoltaic cells are recyclable and at SkyPower we will not use panels manufactured with toxic or rare materials, including cadmium telluride.
• Developing clean and renewable solar energy to support a healthier environment
• Minimizing our impact on the environment
• Sourcing from environmentally-responsible suppliers
As climate change continues to rapidly transform our environment and economy, the need for climate action is critical. For over a decade, SkyPower has been driving the dialogue on climate action by attracting awareness to the benefits of renewable energy.
Our efforts were most recently recognized by the United Nations Global Compact, who named Kerry Adler, SkyPower’s President and Chief Executive Officer, as the Pioneer for Climate Action for our work to advance SDG 13: Climate Action. SkyPower was also an Official Partner of COP21, where the Paris Agreement on Climate Change was negotiated.
• Sparking dialogue with governments, business leaders and civil society to promote climate action
• Leading and participating in high-level forums for climate action
• Collaborating with partners who share common values
At SkyPower, investing in the long-term prosperity of communities is second nature. In fact, our projects are designed to create local jobs, spur social and economic growth, and deliver programs that provide education and skills-training opportunities. We also give back to the communities in which we work. Why? Because we believe that everyone should have access to safe, reliable and renewable electricity. It makes good business sense and – more importantly – it is the right thing to do.
SkyPower is proud to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through our work, we enable progress to be made directly and indirectly against 13 of the 17 SDGs. Most notable is Goal 7, which ensures access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.
